NEXT was the title of this year's year-end show of the School of Design at George Brown College. This year, the school decided to provide its attendees a preview into the works of its graduating students leading up to the year-end show through the creation of a website showcasing their work.
The brand of NEXT was created by Steven Tiao (http://tiao.ca/work/next-show/) on behalf of the School of Design and we did our best to interpret and apply to the design of the website's interface.
The landing page features a promo video advertising the year-end show. Clicking the video would also take the user to the event information page where information on the event as well as being able to RSVP. Below the video are the list of all the programs within the School of Design that would have works to display at the event.
The program page features all the works of the program's graduating students that would also be at the year-end show. Hovering over the image block overlays the name of the student and takes them to their individual profile page. The hamburger menu on the top right corner gives the user the option to browse through the other programs.
The student profile page provides some information about the graduating student and links to his profile and contact. The user can then scroll down to see their final project in detail.
The students had the option of displaying the work in different ways to maximize the impact of their work with their audience. As designers, we gave them the option of either having one large hero image with text description at the bottom...
Displaying two images side by side with text description at the bottom, three images side by side with text. or four images in a grid format with text at the bottom describing their works further.
If the user is looking for a specific kind of project or student in particular, the search option helps the user find what they are looking for.
If they want to narrow their search further, we established designated tags that students must tag their works with to make it easier for their projects to be found. These tags help filter options for the user and helps them find what they are looking for.
